A story set in an age when the sword decided a kingdom's destiny. It brings you to the savagery dictated by the need to survive against a constant threat of invasion.

A boy born into a line of warrior kings takes his chance to travel, in disguise, with his father's army to resist an invader. He avoids discovery until he takes to the field, only to find his magnificent swordplay identifies him.

He develops companions that soon become legendary. Dog - a facially disfigured thief who cares little for his own life; Greg - the giant ex captive, a master with the spear and axe, and Lord Grenden, the boy's mentor.

Succeeding his father he is faced with treachery and a series of major battles. The young warrior meets the daughter of an old enemy and falls in love. Many battles follow, including an expedition that results in victory.

The idea for this book came from the first story of Adventure, treachery and romance ever written in England in the 1200's. Some say that was were the basis for the story of Arthur and the round table originated from. It was called "The Geste of King Horn" and also "The Horn Childe and the battle of Stainmoor". The French stole this story and placed it in Normandy, calling it "Horn et Ryminhylde". The Scots then stole it in the 1300's, composing nine ballads that based the story in Edinburgh, calling it "Hind Horn".
