At
the beginning of time on the great continent of Europe, the supreme semblance of male dominance in the struggle for power and leadership over other like families, was the Horn or tusk of the
fighting male, the sign of challenge and purpose.
So the accolade bestowed upon the mighty was the name Horn, the warrior and his family, and so they continued into the first century, spreading into Denmark Holland Norway, Germany and
England.
The Horned helmet became the symbol of great distinction of their Kings and Chieftain.
This with the noble surname of Horn were the forebears of the Royal houses of Europe and Russia, and dominated the land long after Charlemagne, the first of the Horn descent to become
Christian, and he founded a dynasty of Counts of the Holy Roman Empire
To Englands Eastern shores they came and took their place to lead in fame, Kinsman to the murdered Edmund, Algarus died a hero's death upon the field at Kesteven, his captured son survived
in the court of Eathelred and kept the line with Kingly Thegns, the last of these was Alwin Horne known favourite of the Confessor, he died with Harold on Senlac Hill, and his sons went on
to take their place in Middlesex, Oxford, Kent and London City.  |
